Objectives:

1. Discuss some of the factors that spurred European interest in exploring.
2. Tell how Europeans demand for produced from the East encouraged exploration.
3. Asses the role of religion in spurring exploration.
4. Discuss why Spain and Portugal needed new sources of gold.
5. Discuss Prince Henry’s role in early European exploration
6. Describe Portugal’s exploration of the Africa coast.
